Technologies such as cloud computing, mobile devices, social media, big data, analytics, and remote sensors are the ingredients that are forming the new digital edge. The Internet of Things (IoT) is starting to make an impact on the insurance industry and will be disruptive according to many analysts, consultants and thought leaders. For example, wearables are already collecting health data for individuals. IoT sensors may allow health and auto insurance premium adjustments based on individual’s behavior.
