DISCUSSION TOPICS
Data is the foundation of the future – While emerging technologies like AI, RPA, and blockchain will continue to disrupt finance & procurement as we know it, none of that matters if you don’t have centralized data for these emerging technologies to learn from. It is imperative to collect and aggregate as much data as possible to build a full financial profile of your organization, and create a steady foundation for these next-generation technologies to build upon.
[push h=15]
Artificial Intelligence & robotics: re-creating the dynamics of the AP dept – AI-driven technologies are often subtly trying to help or influence us, for example, suggesting what we might want to read, watch, hear or purchase – silently aggregating transactions and making assumptions based on trends. Finance & procurement are just the latest in a series of business functions being affected by the rapid increase in the use of AI and RPA. For example, the future of the AP department will be focused on larger, more value-added, tasks such as analyzing data to forecast revenues and cash flow, budget plan, and predict profits.
[push h=15]
Blockchain: will improve data accuracy and may eliminate the need for third-party audits – Not only is blockchain technology expected to dramatically improve data accuracy, it could rid your life of third-party audits forever. Accounting records entered and tracked on the blockchain are not alterable, so the integrity of the financial records is guaranteed and there is no need for audits to ensure compliance, resulting in reduced costs and cycle times. The visibility enabled by blockchain can be used with analytics to better manage cash flow and business risk throughout the finance, procurement & AP functions.
