Bridging the Gap: eCommerce in the COVID Economy is an invitation-only virtual lunch meeting (think Grubhub codes and video networking) limited to a group of 30 senior e-commerce and digital leaders local to the Midwest. Our goal is to walk away with the same connections and insights we would have gained in person, doing our part to continue thought-leadership and peer-to-peer learning.
The Coronavirus pandemic has affected every corner and category of eCommerce. Food, beverage, household, and fitness items are being ‘added to carts’ at an unprecedented rate, while luxury, real estate, and travel sales have plunged.
Retail organizations that closed their doors for the past months have been struggling to compensate for huge losses with online traffic. Some brands have found themselves wildly unprepared, with little or no eCommerce infrastructure to build on, and are having to rethink that strategy.
In this conversation, we’ll examine what can be learned from our collective new experiences, and some of the creativity that’s been generated out of constraint. We’ll examine pivots and experiments that have been undertaken – successfully or not – and share useful strategies and new best practices that have emerged from the challenges of the past months.
