To celebrate International Women’s Day on 3/11, we sat down with two B2B tech marketing powerhouses, Liz Fuller and Liz Hall, at our Empowering Women in B2B Tech Marketing: A Heart-to-Heart Conversation in Honor of International Women’s Day event.

Both Liz’s shared wisdom, knowledge, and insight on how women can find the motivation, inspiration, and confidence to fully step into their own power. Our open and real conversation focused on how women can leverage their leadership, get out of their own way, and find their voice to become the most true version of themselves, both in and out of the workplace.

Check out a few of the top takeaways we learned from the discussion on the 11th:

1. Be receptive and open to feedback

“You don’t want to hear that everything you’re doing is great all of the time,” shared Liz Fuller. “It’s important to know the good and the bad.”

In order to step into your fullest of ability, it’s important to learn from your past mistakes. Liz emphasized the value of being receptive to feedback, which can then be used to propel yourself forward, both within and outside of your career.

2. Face your inner critic head-on.

Liz Hall shared that listing out all of her accomplishments to-date has greatly helped her clap back at the voice that tells her she hasn’t done enough. Seeing tangible examples of how far she has come is a great — and extremely reassuring — reminder that she is capable of much more than just her limiting beliefs.

“She’s there and she doesn’t go away,” shared Liz Fuller in reference to her inner critic. “It’s just a matter of how you navigate and push through it.”

3. Stop letting invisible work be, well, invisible.

“I look at invisible work as sharing the work you’re doing more openly,” mentioned Liz Fuller. She emphasized the importance of, and value in, celebrating your work rather than keeping it in the dark.

Liz Hall shared that she used to simply say “yes” to everything that was asked of her. Nowadays, she stands her ground and makes sure that her work-related boundaries are firmly established.

4. Understand the role of feminie leadership in the workforce.

Liz Fuller shared that “feminine leadership” more closely aligns with empathetic and mindful management than it does with femininity.

“It’s just about being thoughtful and looking at your employees and realizing that they have a lot of other things going on,” she highlighted. Liz emphasized that there is incredible value in understanding your employees beyond their everyday workload.

5. Remain respectful while transparent.

“I don’t speak about any other employees, especially when they’re not in the room,” mentioned Liz Hall. She reiterated the importance of addressing employees’ concerns about co-workers without overstepping.

Going hand-in-hand, Liz Fuller addressed that “talking out of turn about information that you don’t know about” will almost always result in sticky, unwanted situations.
