ABOUT THE CONTENT
Inaccurate mileage reimbursement programs are costing businesses hundreds of dollars per employee per month in over-reimbursements. To combat this, progressive companies with mobile workforces are no longer calculating reimbursement rates based on mileage or fuel but are using methods that are accurate and also realize cost savings for the business. Individualized mileage reimbursement rates based the exact cost of driving for work are saving these companies 20-30% from their T&E budget line item expense for mileage reimbursement and auto allowance. In addition, strict labor laws, notably California Labor Code 2802, require all companies to provide reimbursement for the business use of an employee’s personal vehicle. Beyond the cost associated with under-reimbursing mobile employees, businesses also risk violating California state and federal laws.
