Today’s IT trends are putting companies at risk. Employee mobility means anyone can be productive outside the office. But laptops are stolen every 53 seconds, putting company data at risk. Cloud applications frees IT from time-consuming maintenance of on-premise apps. But now Shadow IT is running amok, with over 600 SaaS apps in use at a typical enterprise. In both cases, we’re gaining productivity — but at a cost of increased risk. All this means that the traditional perimeter is dead. It means that “zero trust” is the new normal: companies need to trust nothing, and verify everything. Security budgets need to shift to these new realities. Companies that fail to adapt to them will be breached. Indeed, every day, over 4 million records are lost or stolen.
